Realisation - KyuHae

It was a while before he realised. He'd always thought they were all friends to him, nothing more, nothing less. It was only when his friend had left to go and film with Siwon, that he realised just how much he missed him. Missed everything about him.

He missed that infectious smile. The grin that seemed to be more than a grin, so much more. That would fill his eyes with light and laughter. When it would open wide, and the brilliant sound of his laughter would fall between his lips, brightening the mood on even the darkest of days.

He missed the childlike innocence he seemed to have at times. How the simplest of questions with the simplest of answers would hold so much more than just that simple answer. When he would want to know everything about everything, yearning for knowledge like a little child. How he would ask why, and when, and how, and wouldn't relent until an answer was given, even if it wasn't the answer he wanted, or expected. And he would file it away, think on it, and come back another day with another question, expanding his knowledge of the answer to the first.

He missed the times when he seemed to be so much older than the rest. So much more mature. The voice of reason at times of chaos.

He missed how he had always been there for him, when no one else had cared, and stayed by his side, even when the others started to follow. Even when he had hard times of his own, he was always there for him. He missed knowing he could go and talk to him at any time, about anything, and he would listen. Just listen.

He missed the little hugs, and hand holding, and the whispered comments, even if they started with fan service. Somehow, it always took a little longer to let him go than it did the others.

He just missed Donghae. Everything about him. Every little fault and flaw, every smile, every laugh. He missed him just a little more than he should.

When he returned, the warmth that filled him at the sight of that wide smile, the big bright eyes, and the sound of his laugh, at some stupid comment one of the other members had made, told him something he had never thought he would believe.

He loved him. He loved Lee Donghae. And if the slight widening of his smile, as he saw the maknae waiting for him, was any indication, Donghae loved him too.
